Synopsis: Legend has it that one spring day at the court of a Qing Dynasty king’s palace, the sovereign suddenly lost his appetite. And even though the 108 great chefs of the court prepared a wide variety of dishes for him, the emperor showed no interest. To solve this problem, the famous chef named “Nimble Knife” was urgently summoned from Yangzhou overnight. As soon as the emperor tasted the dish prepared by “Nimble Knife,” he regained his desire to enjoy spring. Overjoyed, he inscribed this phrase on a commemorative plaque: “Flowery March.”
Many years later, a descendant of the imperial palace chef arrives in Yangzhou and makes a bet that no chef in the city cooks better than him. If he wins, then the emperor’s plate will be his.
